The Great Earthquake of 1992

In 1992, when I was a boy, I was selling gifts in front of the Third pyramid, Menkaure.

There was a big big earthquake just south of Giza, in the desert below Dashur.  The ground was shaking very much and many people fell over all around me. I stayed up because I had strong legs from riding camels and my donkey, Lucky.

In some places the ground began to crack and open up and i remember seeing underground structures, stonework and many tunnels beneath the surface. I looked up at the Pyramid and could see that the air around the top of the pyramid was vibrating and there were waves of air coming from the sides of the pyramid. I had not seen this before.

As the ground shook, I saw the movement of one of the limestone blocks suddenly leap up and fall down from high up and land in the large entrance cut into the side of the pyramid. The block did not roll or bounce down the other blocks, it just landed in the entrance and has stayed there to this day.

When the shaking had stopped, many people were running around looking scared not knowing what had happened. The people that were visiting the inside of the pyramid came out of the underground chambers and they did not know there had been an earthquake, they had not felt it from inside as Menkaure had created a harmony for them, to protect them, so they did not know anything about the earthquake.

There were a lot of deaths of people that were inside buildings while the earthquake happened and about 50,000 people lost their homes that were destroyed from the shaking.

Many film crew and TV people came to Giza over the next few days and I told them my story about the rock coming down from high up on the pyramid and finding a new home in the entrance.

Come to see the Pyramids and take a Golden Light Journey and I will show you the block that is still in the entrance that I saw fall during the great earthquake of 1992.
